Electric Collar Training

I was not able to go to NYC this weekend, some issues with my van kept me from driving any long distances, so instead I got lots of kennel work done and had a nice off leash training session at the beach with a pack of 5 dogs. With all of the books and "positive" trainers telling you how bad and punishing using electric collars are I wonder if any of them have ever used them or even seen them used? I can't imagine someone not wanting to have there dog run off leash for 75 minutes on a beach and have the dog come back 100% fo the time over 25 times, no matter what the distraction is.

once getting to the beach I put all of the pack into a downstay for about five minutes..all off leash and with lots of Real World Distractions going on around them

Roca enjoying the ocean air, does his I love the ocean air dance for all to see

we had an awesome time working and playing at the beach. when you hear about doing off leash traiing, this is what it looks like, allowing dogs to run and play, but expectiing them all to come back immediately  when they are called. We would do this over and over dozens of time meanwhile walking up and down the beach for well over an hour. I cannot stress what an incredible feeling it is to have your dogs 100% in control off leash. If anyone tells you that the dogs come back because they are afraid of being shocked or punished is just an outright lie., bordering on just plain stupidity.

the pack checking out the ice flow

and around the corner they come with Uma pulling up on the outside lane...

and out of the blue comes an Angel, no really this dogs name is Angel and came running out of the woods dragging her owner down a hill just to get to us.

Notice that when Clover comes onto the property the dogs are happy to see her but, the do NOT jump on her. at 5 years old she can keep a pack of dogs each one weighing more than her from jumping and so can you. just listen to my radio show, read my blog, call me for help, but do something today. it does not go away on its own

Berkley the b/w springer spaniel came in to the kennel today and is with us for some intense babyproofing as well as the basics..

Bring on the rain

I loved having rain today, it washed away so much of the winter mess that we have, the dogs got lots of work both inside and outside today, double time on the treadmills

Murphy, Maxine and Kobe working on obedience inside the house. remember we do not use food for our training system at all

Jabba and Kobe in Place, Kobe is one of the most dog social dogs that we have ever had on the property

Kobe and Maxine in Place outside, Maxine is about 16 weeks this week

Jabba working on his distraction training, he will be moving to NYC with his owner and we need to make him bombproof to every distraction

Ronan in a downstay while Rossy does some scooter distraction work....Ronan is up for adoption

Bowie is just happy to be living with us for 4 weeks while his owner is traveling

Kobe rocking out in Place command, one of the issues that he came to us was being very skittish around everyone, only a little progress was made on that in the 2 weeks that he was here. I will talk about this on my radio show tmrw, on how to get a dog from not being so fearful. It is a long process...

Broken down van

Today is wednsday, I had to bring my van in to the shop on Monday, so I was vanless for 3 days, I had to reschedule all of my on the road clients, but I always have plenty of dogs on the property to train. Major work with the engine, exhaust and drivetrain...oh well..it is back....and I will be back on the road at 6:15am thursday...in the meantime, lots of pictures to update you with

Don't knock it til you have tried it

Today I had another wonderful session with a client that utilzed the tools of remote collar training. There is so much incorrect information about electric collars out there. All from folks that have actually never used them. If I meet a trainer that does not use them. I wonder how they are able to take packs of dogs off leash in the wilderness, to the beach, in crowded areas and have 100% control. I am not talking about inside of a classroom, I am talking about on a beach next to a busy highway, with horses on trails walking by, young children running around chasing balls, other people on the beach with dogs both off leash and on leash, how do you control your dog 100% of the time. The answer is they don't, no matter what they tell you they don't. A "positive reinformcement trainier" that talks bad about training with electric collars is not able to take dogs off leash in high distraction places.

End of the day in my kennel

I love closing down the kennel every night, as most of you know we do not have dog runs to keep dogs seperate. Though at night each dog does get its own sleeping quarters, we keep smaller dogs in crates since that is the most comfortable and efficient way. Some dogs are not housebroken yet or are having problems so we need to contain them in a smaller crate to help them out..During the day the dogs run, play and train though in a group. Some of the dogs you see in this video are highly dog aggresive, but you would never no it from watching...the rule is NO FIGHTING in the kennels

Did a nice 8 dog pack walk of 4 miles yesterday, had a couple of new dogs in the pack and they did great, we took a quick stop in front of a cemetery as a gentle reminder that 5 million dogs are killed a year for senseless behavior problems that could be fixed with exercise and household mgmt

Big man on campus Brady is coming along well with his obedience training,

Bernard keepin the look out for any stray dogs that need training, great job Bernard, bring in some business...well not for a few weeks, we are booked solid, so take reservations

Awesome video of Clover abusing a dog

today was another great progress day.

Jabba on the left in PLACE and Bennie in a downstay in the office. Both dogs are learning some great calming & coping skills as well as the given obedience skills that is expected of them.

this is a quick video of Clover abusing a dog, this is a typical video of my training technique. Once you see this video you will fully understand why all of the Positive Reinforcement trainers do not like me, why they send my hatemail and even death threats. Ater viewing this video you will understand why it was necessary for them to call up the local office of the ASPCA and have them rush out to my property because I was abusing dogs. You will understand why they call my advertisers on my radio show, and even the GM of the radio station that I should be taken off of the air because I abuse dogs.

In the video you will see a abusive and mean dog trainer, you will see a 170lb dog that was destined to be killed for aggression issues, you will see the dog with a pinch/prong collar on which is mean and abusive and causes pain and instils fear in the dog. You will see Clover pop the leash in an upward way in order the dog to sit and then you will hear her say down and put her foot on the leash and slam the dog into a downstay using force and intimidation.

I encourage everyone to send this post around to as many people as possible to show them the power of my training methods, which include pinch/prong collars and not using food, help me educate. 5 million dogs a year are being killed, and my daugter can save them if given the chance. Maxine and Kobe enjoying some free time in the play yard

My Belly says "Sunday is Italian Day"

one of my clients this morning put a nice package of homemade Biscotti and this afternoon a client made me a wonderful sausage and pepper sandwich...what a very fulfilling day of eating.

yesterday I had a nice brainstorming session with Clover and Romy, it is time that they start helping me with my social media message, they have been training dogs for a few years and they need to participate a little more in the business

Romy has a good grasp of most Mac applications and her dynamic use of the trackpad is much better than mine

Picked up Brady, a dog that waas minutes away from not being around anymore..he bit me the first time we met last week, and on film no less, he was part of the filming that was going on from with me.

All of us our psyched to be working with this 170lb Bull Mastiff who likes to use his mouth inapropriately

Taken a page out of the educational system of down south in the 50's we have switched to color segragation of our play yard.....from 2-4pm each day we let the tan/yellow dogs out to the play yard

did some nice off leash training in the woods today after a clients, Ronan was with me and he is up for adoption as well

WE train hard and we play hard

we wake the dogs up at 6:30am and by 8pm they are dreaming up what a great day they had, in between all of the training there is plenty of time for play, we offer one of the most incredible balanced training programs available to dogs anywhere.

Kobe hanging out with Remy, Remy loves scratching his bag on the ramp.

Remy spends lots of time scratching his back, as Jabba, who came to us with lots of dog/dog aggression issues learns the skills of the play yard

Remy plays with his tire with Kobe

Jabba and Ronan play with Maxine who is only 14 weeks old and is learning the ways of the pack

Wtih Ronan on the property, looks like the 6 foot fence needs to go up a couple of feet this summer. Ronan is up for adoption and you can find his info on my Petfinder account

Kobe and Gemma play around with one of the many sticks in the yard
