Life changing training

Some great success stories are happening on the property, most of the dogs are all doing remote collar training and the level that they are learning is incredible. The skills that will last a lifetime are being instilled into them. It is so important that once they go back home that the owners follow through with the work. We need to redifine what dog ownership is. what is love, what is pack leadership

Deacon the GSD in a downstay is being a great distraction for Henry, who at 18 months old was going to be surrendered for biting every single human in his family. I am his last chance and within 48 hours of being on my property I am feeling great about his success, One of the things that we train dogs on our property is the meaning of the word NO, I cannot stand how most of the trainers on the planet tell you never to say NO to your dog...I find this appaling that a dog trainer does not want you to correct your dog...implying that saying NO is a punishment and you should not punish your dog..I agree you should not punish your dog, but saying NO is not punishment...this is one of the many of the stupid idiotic things that pure positive trainers try to brainwash the dog owning public with...So what exactly am I supposed to do with my dog that is biting me? oh pure postive trainer, you suggest I kill my dog? well I would rather teach the dog the meaning of the word NO and keep it alive.

Img_9247
One of the things that is going to dramatically help Henry is living in a stable pack for a couple of weeks, this will even Henry out and the other dogs will help guide him on the path to proper behavior, again so many trainers tell you that board and train facilities are not good for your dog, I can only speak for myself, our board and train facility is responsible for saving so many dogs lives because we are able to take an unstable dog and even it out.

Chloe and Lexi go home tmrw and have come such a long way..they are fully off leashed trained on recall and downstay and leash trained on all of our commands, they have picked up some incredible skills and I am excited about them going back to their owner and showing off their new skills

Clover helps Lupita swim by keeping the other dogs away from her. Clover is such an incredible force of a dog trainer, she is so connected to the dogs on a mental level

Amy, you should have gone to rehab

I realize it has been a week since my last confession...I mean my last posting. Things are out of control busy, the kennel is booked solid and my 1 on 1 clients are booked solid, I want to thank all of you for spreading the word about Solid K9 Training, most of my business is from word of mouth and personal referals. I have been doing a good amout of rescue as well, in fact I am getting in 4 more kennels next week so I can increase my rescue dog intake. Every day I turn down dogs that I can rehab but I do not have a safe/secure place to put them. So I am taking over some of my own personal dogs space to put in some more rescue space.

I got a call at 3am  from a rescue in Brooklyn NY last week about a dog that was about to be killed, no one could work with it without getting bit. They heard about me from facebook and I had an empty space so I jumped at the chance, I met them in New Haven

Img_1834
This is Nathan and yes he is scared and no, not because he is with me...I love how all of the haters like to tell me how the dogs are always looking sad and scared at my kennel with my training. So all you assholes out there, listen up. Nathan was 2 hours from being killed, he is a scared and nervous dog that other people have failed to be able to work with. So unless you want to head down to North Carolina and spring these dogs that are being killed every day of the week, and start working with them, really working with them. Not just warehousing them, giving the hugs and kisses, feeding them treats and carrying them around. Unless you are to sacrifice your sleep, your bank account, your relationships with your family, you can go fuck yourself and don't tell me how to rehab.

24 hours into his training, the energy in Nathan is moving to a direction that we like

Img_0878
Uma is great at helping unstable dogs even out, Nathan hangs out in Place in my office to start getting a baseline of commands, when working with unstble dogs it is so important that you train dogs calming skills in order to be able to start changing the energy in our dogs

All dogs need

I love my clients, I work with so many different breeds of dogs, so many different owners, but they are all the same, they all want to be better in control of their dogs

Rio was adopted out, after almost 4 weeks of hardcore training and rehab, this wonderful dog that was flown out from California to be worked with has found a  great home

Henry has the habit of  not listening to her owner and has the strange concept that little dogs are tasty treats

Just a quick video of a downstay exercise, you will see my clients do a walking down/stay where they barely stop and say down, the dog is not told to Stay, just Down, which has a built in Stay to it..putting dogs in Real World Situations, when the dog breaks command, the word NO should put the dog back into the last command it was in..which is down in this instance.

Uma came through with some great training help with some dogs today...I have some highly reactive dogs from one client, they go absolutely into high drive when they pass another dog, so what do we do, well we walk by Uma over and over and over again, until they can get it right

to end it we put the dogs into a downstay with Uma in between, we made great progress today....

I was up in Spencer Ma this afternoon to work with a client, Uma took the opportunity to utilize the lake and the dock and jump off of it...

Smiling is my business

Dogs love my board and train facility, it is life changing for dogs and they love spending time with us

Large or small a smile is a wonderful thing.

With all of the warm temperatures the dogs are real good at going into the shade to stay cool

Some kids are afraid of dogs, some are hesitant around dogs and then there is Romy who is so comfortable, that she will lay down and take a nap surrounded by 10 of them all running around in and out of the pool area, no dogs ever bother her.

Clover learns from Remy some great jumping into the pool techniuqe

Clover just started swimming without any flotation device in the pool, she jumps in the pool swims under water and all...she has made some great progress this summer and her confidence has soared in the water

Rio loves jumping into the pool and swimming
