Transformers thats what we do with dogs.

Well another jam packed day of training and rehab work for lots of dogs, the month of June has turned into the busiest month in the history of my company and I want to thank all of you for supporting me, I am also doing more and more rescue and that is plain and simple Karma working, which the dogs love, dogs don't care wether I get paid or not for my services but they all love the results.

Minnie came onto the property today with a host of behavioral and obedience issues that we will work on over the next 2 weeks

Img_7902

If you are following the story of Rio, she loves to work and we worked her hard today, she will most likely be moving in with my pack and get the rehab from them as well..all of my personal dogs sleep in a pack, they play in a pack and they train in a pack as well as travel with me a lot.

Img_7889
One of the things that we do is grooming table training, we work on cutting and grinding of nails, cleaning of ears and teeth, and brushing them out. we also do vet table training where we put on and take off a muzzle, use a stethoscope and check for heart rate...lift up the tail, (no we do not do rectal temperature)

Img_7913
Remi is doing great with the training program, he is holding his commands real well even with high levels of distractions

Img_7895
Bogatyre in a downstay...one of the more unfocused dogs we have worked with....but has come a long way in the last week

Img_7904
I love how i have convinced the staff that putting the dogs in a downstay and then watering the garden is important training, my garden never looks so good, in a few weeks I will stress to the staff how important it is to put the dogs in a downstay and pick the vegatables...this is Bridget the newest member of the team

I brought Kendall to one of my clients houses today to help socialize their dog, Kendall took a walk on their dock to check things out

Dog announces run for president

I had a dog flown into my rescue yesterday from sunny California, it is a surrender and they wanted the best in animal behavioral rehab as well as a guaranteed home for the rest of her life...

Rio did great on her first day of living with us.

She acclimated to the dogs extremely well

Akita happiness is dog training

We had a great dog come into the kennel this week, an Akita named Remi who is a mirror image of Roca but different colors, Today was the first day that we had Remi out with other dogs since the dog is not good with other dogs.

Img_0547
Img_0574
Img_0532
this photo is very important to look at, Remi (b/w akita) hanging out by the pool, Ronan (kengal), makes sure that there are NO issues with this dog, Ronan has the job of keeping new dogs in line when the kids are around, imagine a plain clothes security person keeping an eye on a potential shoplifter in a store, and that what Ronan does, Remy and Uma are going after pool toys since they can spend hours a day going in and out of the pool and in the middle of this is Clover and Romy playing in the pool and interacting with the dogs

Img_7674
Bogatyre in a downstay, He came in this week and is an extremely energetic friendly dog that needs to work on focus and obedience as well as calming skills

George is always looking for some action

Clover and Romy helped me deliver Joi to his home after a 6 week board and train and yes this is Joi's backyard

Img_0564
Uma and Remy love going after the same toys in the pool

Img_1524
why do we train our downstays so hard, well, when you don't have a leash or even collars on the dog and you have to stop at your mechanics and the mechanic does not want the dogs in the van, you have them come out of the van downstay them in the driveway of the mechanic and leave them there for 30 minutes while your car gets worked on

Img_7565
Remy and Romy playing in the pool area

Img_7661
This is total bullshit, how long do we have to hang out on this mat? hey, jeff...how about some swim time? hey, jeff, the new dog gets to run around the play yard, what are we doing over here?

Fathers Day Massacre

So Linda left for Florida to visit her father, and after doing the radio show solo I jumped right into adding her responsibility, mainly taking care of the kids and chickens as well as laundry, cooking, cleaning.

Img_1464
Just thinking about all of that extra work drove the kids and I to Starbucks for some mini donuts and milk.

Img_7503
On Sunday I picked up Ricky from NYC yesterday left the house at 4am and had him picked up before the kids even woke up...head back to Providence, no worries the teenage kid was watching them....or pretending to watch them I should say...

Img_7524
Downstay in the yard, it is always great to work dogs in small packs, they help each other work through issues that they may have

The girls had a friend over yesterday and joined them in the pool for a swim, and yes all the dogs are respectful of her, since that is what dogs on are property are trained to do

Barb & Irv in Providence

I see my folks maybe 2 times a year, they live out in San Diego, CA and came for a nice 3 day stay in Providence. It is always great to see them Clover and Romy love seeing them and doing all kinds of activities with them.

Remy does one of his incredible dives into the pool going past Polo for a pool toy. Remy does this for hours a day.

Img_7199
the great thing about my property is you can see dogs connect with other dogs in a way that is incredible

Img_1413
We are fortunate to have a national known winery in RI and when the owners needed there dog to be off leash trained so he would not run off chasing any of the wild animals that can cross over the winery as well as stay away from the machinery and mingle amongst the guests properly, who did they call? of course...
Img_1400

There is an old dog training system (well actually from the 60's) called Tie Dye Distraction training, the concept is that when the dogs look at the tye dye shirts they are so distracted that you can then pet the dogs without worrying about getting bit.

Img_7295
A little bit of calmness in the pool for Clover, not sure why there are no dogs in the pool at the moment

Remy, I don't care how flat in the grass you get, we can still see your 200lb body

eyes averted, hands to the side, stand sideways....ARE YOU PAYING ATTENTION ALL OF MY FELLOW AMERICANS this is how you should be around dogs that you have not met yet...STOP going down to the dogs level and sticking your hand out while you are smiling and telling the dog how much you love him...or you will contribute to the death of 5 million dogs a year

What's Up Best Friends

On today's radio show I brought to light that in 2009 Best Friends Animal Rescue in UTAH brought in over 43 million dollars in donations but only saved 600 dogs...why? when other nonprofits can rescue and adopt out over 2000 thousand dogs with only 1 million dollars a year.

click the above link to listen to this weeks broadcast of my weekly radio show What Would Jeff Do? is Best Friends going along the lines of PETA and turning into just a money making marketing machine that has lost touch of the dogs and the needs of the dogs.

Yes it is hot, in the 90's today and we have to be very in touch with the dogs to make sure that we do not overwork them, with access to lots of fresh water, a misting area as well as a swimming pool and our a/c kennels we have a healthy balance for the dogs of work/rest and play.
